Ithaca or Bust!

August 12, 2009: Roadtrip '09

Our first "real" roadtrip together across the USA! It all begins this afternoon, around 3pm. We have always wanted to drive across the US and see some sites, but have never had a forcing function to do so... So when this opportunity came up, Joe said "we are in!" His only stipulation was that we get to see Mt. Rushmore!

We will keep this blog up-to-date as we make our way across the country. If all goes as planned (lets hope it does!) we will fly back from Syracuse on the 19th...

Here are the pit stops along the way:

• Spokane, WA (logical pit stop for the first night.)
• Old Faithful, WY (a must see… we have never been here.)
• Cody, WY (logical pit stop and the only place we could find available near Old Faithful.)
• Sturgis, SD (have to say we have seen this place; fortunately we will miss the Harley gathering!)
• Keystone, SD (Mt. Rushmore, Joe’s only pit stop request…)
• Mankato, MN (what can we say… we have watched so much Little House, we just wanted to see the real location.)
• Rochester, MN (logical pit stop; don’t know another reason to stop here, unless we need medical attention from Mayo!)
• Chicago, IL (we will spend an afternoon/evening here… we haven’t ever been here on “vacation” – just biz.)
• Ann Arbor, MI (get to meet a friend who is adopting a beautiful Haiti baby too!)
  Niagara Falls, ON (this was Jill’s “must” pit stop! Staying the night here.)
• Ithaca, NY (the reason for the trip! Dropping off the car at Cornell and saying hi to Lauren!)
• Syracuse, NY (flight out… head home, but hoping to see the Syracuse campus as well!)
