Sunday: Palm Springs

It was our first full day in Palm Springs... it turned out to be a really nice day, despite the need to change our plans. This vacation is definitely going to be different than we had been anticipating. I don't think we have ever been to Palm Springs when the weather has been less than 85-100 degrees... And the past couple of weeks has been nice & hot here, which is what we were counting on. However, today 66 was as high as it got - with clouds. Tomorrow will bring much the same - and the balance of the week won't get much past low 70's... BUMMER. So our plans to just hang out by the pool and relax have really been impacted, which I have to admit has been tough on me mentally. I was really looking forward to this time to relax and enjoy some downtime with Joe and Samuel.

But we are going to try to make the most of what the desert has to offer - which is a lot, actually. So today we started off with a Starbucks and an hour long walk around some neighborhoods (with BOB, of course!)  And then we went to the Living Desert. Joe and I had been there in 1999 - but not since. It has really grown and it a fun place to see all sorts of animals in an "open" environment. Samuel had a GREAT time seeing all the animals and even got to go on a camel ride!!! We also ended up running into Becky Owens (fellow Oregonian), who also went to Linfield College and was a huge help to us with items, when Samuel arrived home from Haiti... so that was fun!

When we were done, we drove around town, stopped at Starbucks and then Joe and Samuel hit the pool for a bit of playtime. Samuel has definitely been active playing and walking, so he slept like a log last night!

Not sure what tomorrow holds for us... we will just have to see what the weather does.
