Saturday Sunshine: Our Favorite Place on Earth - Kauai, HI

We went on a longer run/walk this morning – we went up to our family time-share to say "hello." There was a beautiful rainbow on the way!  We then headed to Starbucks (yes, I know... we don't change up the routine much - but boy does that coffee taste good after a work-out!)

INSERT SHORT STORY HERE: Every year we run into Kailee!  There is a picture of Kailee and all of us below.  Joe swam (is that a word?) and was a lifeguard with her in Bend, OR (where he grew up.) And am not kidding - almost every year (minus maybe 1 in 15 years) we have bumped into Kailee on Kauai! It may be in a gallery, street party or just on a walk – but we run into her every time!  This year, it was on our run/walk today! It has been so random.  So we finally took a picture to capture the memory!

After our run/walk we headed to the Sheraton Beach for Joe's surf lessons. It was Joe + about 10 guys who were in a wedding party (the wedding is tomorrow.) And as it turns out, one of the guys went to Linfield and graduated with me (small world, eh?!)  He was the roommate of a good friend of mine.  Joe said he really enjoyed his lessons and it made it a lot more fun to be in a group like that. I stayed on the beach (under two big palm trees) with Luke, Samuel and one of the BOB's. Samuel was a trooper and played in the sand.  Luke got a bit fussy, but we made it through okay… The lesson was 2 hours, so in return, I got to go shopping ALL BY MYSELF this afternoon!

Anyway – I was too far away to take good pictures (or video) of Joe in the ocan, but you get the idea from the pictures below.  I also gave Samuel my little/.older digital camera to snap a few pictures of Joe while he was surfing. Most importantly, it was a good way to occupy his time!

When I got back from shopping, I got about 1 hour by the pool before Samuel woke up from his nap (Joe was watching the Linfield game on the computer - and YES, they beat Willamette!) It was nice to read my book, relax and just enjoy the ocean waves in the background (a rare moment these days!)  Then I played with Samuel in the pool for another hour… and now Joe is doing the same.  Luke is napping peacefully. I am blessed with a good family… it sure took awhile - but we finally got here!  It's nice to be in Kauai with "my men."

Wish you could be with us… and I mean that! These adventures are best spent with others, sharing memories…
