Kauai: Friday Fun

We went on our run/walk this morning (got up at 6am again - we are trying to get up early to keep closer to the PST timeframe, given I will be going back to work when we get back.) We did a longer route this morning and it felt good - we ended at Starbucks, of course! We then went to the pool until naptime. We had to have the local "host" stop by with an electrician, as one of the circuits was having issues, so that went on at naptime. When Samuel woke up, we headed to "Baby Beach" with our BOB's (it's very close to our house.) Joe was able to have Samuel try out his snorkel mask in the ocean. I was watching from afar (with Luke) and was so amazed at Samuel in the water. He just does what Joe asks of him and really wants to learn... He did so well (much better in the ocean than I thought he would!) They found the fish and he was VERY excited to tell me about it when they got back on the beach!!!

Tonight we decided to "brave" a dinner at a restaurant... It's always such a process and we just can't predict how the kids will be feeling (which is why eating by our pool is much more simple.) But... we ended up going to one of our favorite spots: Keoki's Paradise. Before we went, we asked Samuel if he thought he could be "patient" and also "behave" (and say please and thank-you.) He said "yes" he could do that for us. So we decided to give it a try. It was a complete blessing as Luke slept the entire dinner (he woke up as we were paying the bill.) And Samuel did SO good - he was very focused on saying please/thank-you - I could tell he knew what we had discussed and what was expected of him. He made us very happy parents tonight. :-) We "might" even be able to go out for dinner one more time (especially now that he knows what yummy food is there!)

Tomorrow morning Joe is taking surfing lessons! We will all go to the beach and watch Joe for as long as Samuel and Luke can hold out... I hope we can get some good pictures and possibly some video of him (we shall see.) And then I get to go to the new shopping village while Joe watches the Linfield football game on the computer in the afternoon! WooHoo - a couple of hours all to myself! Not sure I remember what this feels like...
